When a hurricane hits, the damage is visible: torn roofs, flooded rooms, entire neighborhoods in shambles. But what’s harder to see, and often more devastating, is what happens after the storm. That’s when the claims process begins. And for far too many policyholders, that’s when the games begin.
That’s why I created Claim Game, a live webinar series where we have honest conversations with the people shaping the future of insurance claims. It’s a space to examine the issues impacting policyholders, challenge the status quo, and explore how we can build a fairer, more accountable system for everyone involved.
Tonight, I’m honored to welcome a guest who has done more than just talk about the problem. He’s put his reputation on the line to expose it: Attorney Steven Bush.
You may have seen Steven on 60 Minutes or Dr. Phil, where he shared what he and other licensed adjusters discovered after Hurricane Ian: damage reports were being altered. Field adjusters’ findings, including full roof replacements, were quietly changed by desk adjusters to minimize payouts. Sometimes by as much as 90%. All while keeping the original adjuster’s name and license number on the report.
This wasn’t a one-off mistake. According to Steven and his clients, this was a widespread scheme that affected thousands of policyholders, and it’s still happening.
Steven’s not just a whistleblower attorney. He’s also a former public adjuster, a Certified Indoor Environmentalist, and someone who’s worked on the ground since the days of Hurricane Katrina. He understands this issue from every angle and has the credibility and courage to speak up when others won’t.
Steven has been recognized as Super Lawyer, Elite Lawyer of the Year (twice), and was recently awarded the Advocate’s Award by the Florida Association of Public Adjusters for exposing carrier fraud. He’s also a founding board member of the Florida Policyholders Cooperative and serves on the advisory board of the American Policyholder Association.
Tonight, we’ll talk about:
- The real story behind the altered reports after Hurricane Ian
- What public adjusters and policyholders should know ahead of the Helene and Milton claim deadlines
- What needs to change, and how we fight back
We’ll also be taking questions live. If you’re a public adjuster, contractor, attorney, or policyholder dealing with a claim, this is a conversation you need to be a part of.
Join us tonight at 6:00 PM ET.
