Seyfarth was favorably featured in its annual American Lawyer 100 profile on May 1, “Seyfarth, Looking to ‘Supercharge’ Growth, Saw Double-Digit Profit Gains in 2024”
The article pointed out that Seyfarth increased revenue nearly 6% in 2025, despite a total drop in lawyers, to about $932 million “with demand for signature practices like labor and real estate, as well as high-single-digit billing rate growth and lateral additions who were able to “supercharge” performance.”
Firm chair Lorie Almon was quoted extensively in the article, including about the success of what Am Law called “productive laterals” who joined the first over the past several years.
“Obviously when a lateral comes right away there’s a little bit of a ramp-up, but we feel really good about how successful they were, just right off the bat, and I think they’re really helping supercharge our growth in 2025,” Almon said. She added that much of the work came from “some very strong portfolio relationships, existing ones and new ones,” rather than a specific matter or engagement.
The article highlighted Seyfarth’s growth in Texas, noting that “for the rest of the year, Seyfarth sees continued opportunities to grow in Texas.” Almon told Am Law that the firm’s new Dallas office is “thriving” and that the firm’s recently launched energy transactions group in Houston is also poised for growth. “We see a lot of opportunities in that space,” Almon said. “We’re also expanding our transactional presence in a number of markets right now and we expect to continue to do that, both in real estate and corporate practices as well.”
Almon also discussed how Seyfarth has increased the proportion of revenue the firm has derived from alternative fee arrangements. “We’re not trying to be at the top of the market, we’re always trying to thread that needle, where we’re charging the value for clients,” Almon said, in reference to billing rates.
“We’re always looking for the right opportunity to supercharge our growth in areas that make good strategic sense for us,” Almon told Am Law.
