Seyfarth Bolsters Construction Litigation Capabilities on West Coast with Experienced Three-Lawyer Team Led by Brenda Radmacher

Los Angeles, August 13, 2025 – Seyfarth Shaw LLP has boosted its nationally-acclaimed Construction Law practice with the completion of a three-lawyer move consisting of partner Brenda Radmacher, counsel Heather Frisch, and associate Christopher Bouquet to the firm’s Downtown Los Angeles office.

Radmacher and her team augment the West Coast coverage of Seyfarth’s national cross-disciplinary Construction Law practice, which was named Practice Group of the Year by Law360 earlier this year. The three lawyers deepen the firm’s litigation bench in Los Angeles and seamlessly complement Seyfarth’s established Real Estate and transactional groups.

Radmacher, formerly with Akerman LLP, offers nearly three decades of experience as a noted litigator and counselor entrusted with high-level matters involving landowners, developers, general contractors, and design professionals. Her multi-faceted practice focuses on construction law, representing construction industry clients in litigation as well as providing them with advice and transactional counsel.

Radmacher has played a significant role in several high-profile matters, including serving as the lead construction attorney on the 2021 Champlain Towers South collapse in Surfside, FL, which resulted in the largest construction settlement in the United States at more than $1.2 billion, and the 2017 shooting at the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas, where she helped to negotiate the settlement of the related multi-million-dollar dispute.

“This outstanding group’s focus on complex construction litigation is consistent with our national construction group’s practice,” said Michael McKeeman, co-chair of Seyfarth’s national Construction practice. “Brenda, Heather, and Christopher’s top-notch construction capabilities in both transactional matters and disputes will further benefit our clients who entrust us with their most complex matters.”

Radmacher has represented clients on projects in California as well as nationally and internationally. Clients call on Radmacher for her legal and negotiation counsel for issues such as course-of-construction disputes, claims of construction defects, and insurance issues. She offers extensive experience in building envelope, water infiltration, and mold-related claims, having advised clients with respect to hundreds of such matters.

“Brenda Radmacher is clearly a thoughtful, highly accomplished addition to our Construction Litigation practice with her strong track record, especially on the West Coast,” said Gina Ferrari, national chair of Seyfarth’s Litigation department. “Brenda and her team are an obvious strategic fit for us in Los Angeles, especially with our strength in Real Estate.”

The addition of Radmacher and her group to Seyfarth in Los Angeles follows similar moves there in the last 18 months by a three-lawyer Labor & Employment group from Morgan Lewis and a five-lawyer L&E team from Hunton Andrews Kurth.

“Brenda Radmacher and her group will play an important, strategic role in broadening our Litigation group and Construction practice in Southern California,” said Dana Treister, managing partner of Seyfarth’s Downtown Los Angeles office. “Their addition, with their well-rounded background in construction law, aligns extremely well with our strategic goals both in transactions and dispute resolution. Brenda’s strong litigation skills, along with her mix of outstanding clients, will help to continue the growth of our Downtown Los Angeles office.”

Radmacher advises clients on risk management best practices, drafting critical documents, contracts, and procedures, and finding effective resolution of disputes. She provides substantial experience and knowledge in dispute resolution, including a background as a mediator and professor on negotiation and mediation. She also handles licensing issues for clients nationally, as well as negotiating and litigating EPC agreements.

“We are excited to be a part of Seyfarth, which offers an outstanding opportunity to expand our practice and further support our clients,” said Radmacher. “Seyfarth’s well-established Construction Litigation practice with its national platform provides us with a stronger foundation and the benefits of collaborating with an outstanding team of lawyers across many sectors. I have been affiliated with both Heather and Christopher for many years and am excited to have them join me here.”

Radmacher is actively engaged throughout the construction industry with notable legal and professional organizations including the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law, where she co-chaired the 2024 Annual Meeting and serves on the Steering Committee.

Radmacher has chaired the Legal Advisory Committee of the Associated General Contractors of California. She sits on the distinguished Construction Panel as both an arbitrator and mediator for the American Arbitration Association. Radmacher is a national board member for Women Construction Owners & Executives, as well as the past president of the California chapter.

She earned both a JD and MA from the University of Southern California. Radmacher received her BA from Baylor University. She is admitted to the bar in both California and Arizona.

Frisch comes to Seyfarth from Pierce Kavcioglu Espinosa & Cesar, LLP. She provides extensive experience representing contractors on public and private construction projects with an emphasis on heavy civil public works projects. Frisch started her career in construction as in-house counsel for a heavy civil contractor in Southern California and has continued to represent contractors in private practice. She has served on the board of the Women Construction Owner & Executives (WCOE) California Chapter since 2020.

Bouquet, who was previously with Akerman LLP, focuses on all types of construction issues – from negotiating and reviewing contracts, risk management and assessment, and legal disputes when necessary. He has represented owners, developers, contractors, and construction professional clients in a wide range of delay, defect, and payment disputes, and regularly advises clients on matters related to contracts, liens, and professional licensure compliance.

Seyfarth’s Construction group is one of the largest and most experienced construction law practices in the United States. The practice represents developers, contractors, owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and lenders in all phases of construction projects, from inception to completion, domestically and abroad.
