Seyfarth Expands Government Contracts Technology Capabilities as Zohra Tejani Joins Firm as Partner

May 6, 2025 – Seyfarth Shaw LLP has bolstered its highly-recognized Government Contracts practice with the addition of Zohra Tejani as partner.

A recognized leader in public sector procurement and technology licensing, Tejani brings more than 25 years of experience advising technology providers – from startups to global enterprises – on driving revenue and managing risk with federal, state, and local government contracts.

“Zohra’s deep expertise and problem solving abilities at the intersection of government contracting and technology is a perfect fit for Seyfarth’s innovative approach to exceptional client service,” said Amy Hoang, who co-chairs Seyfarth’s Government Contracts practice group. “Zohra is a significant addition to our Government Contracts group and our Washington office. Her extensive background and knowledge will enable clients to achieve business goals with their government customers.”

Tejani, who will be based in Seyfarth’s Washington, DC office, moves to the firm from Fenwick & West, where she co-led its Defense Innovation and GovTech Industry Sector Group. She was previously a senior in-house lawyer at Microsoft and VMware, supporting public sector business units for more than 15 years before co-founding a boutique government contracts law firm.

“Zohra focuses on an area of government contracts law that we have wanted to bolster,” said Adam Lasky, co-chair of the Government Contracts practice group. “Her proven ability to guide technology transactions with government entities on high-reward matters, along with the counsel she provides companies on the impact of government requirements across the innovation lifecycle is a great complement to the vast skill sets we already have.”

Tejani represents private sector technology clients as they navigate public sector procurement. She helps clients manage technology transactions with government entities on high-stakes government contracts, subcontracts, and proposals involving technology products and services.

Her practice involves counseling clients on a range of government contracting issues across the product development, go-to-market, and other phases of commercializing innovation. She advises on technology-related matters when doing business with the government, including cybersecurity, secure software development, and data protection as well as intellectual property related issues such as software licensing, asserting data rights, and protecting trade secrets.

“Zohra’s skillset and experience align perfectly with the growth areas our Litigation department is targeting,” said Gina Ferrari, chair of Seyfarth’s Litigation Department. “Zohra will be a tremendous asset to our already outstanding Government Contracts team on both transactional and litigation matters. We are excited about the immediate and long-term impact she will have on the success of our practice and the value we deliver to our clients.”

“Zohra is one of a handful of attorneys who have decades of operating in the area between technology and government contracts which, along with her high-level in-house experience, makes her a very attractive asset for our firm’s clients and potential clients,” said Christa Dommers, managing partner of Seyfarth’s Washington office. “She has a strong entrepreneurial spirit and will be a significant addition to our office.”

“I am passionate about my role in helping the public sector harness private sector innovation,” said Tejani. “What drives me most is the belief that private sector technology is critical to helping public sector entities better serve their citizens. I am very excited to be joining Seyfarth’s highly regarded Government Contracts team and to further extend my ability to be a strategic advisor for clients seeking to bring technology-based solutions to the public sector.”

Tejani has established herself as a popular thought leader with regard to key issues concerning government contracts and technology, speaking at a wide range of industry conferences, and authoring published articles.

Tejani earned both her JD and BA from Georgetown University. She is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a Co-Chair of the Cybersecurity, Privacy and Emerging Technology Committee of the ABA Public Contract Law Section.
